Cassidi was interviewed by WYFF Friday night at the football game to be on the WYFF Playbook. After they heard about her story when they got back to the news room they decided to do a entire piece on Cassidi on the news as the Ware Shoals Hornets Watergirl. Fair and Tender Ladies

Fair and Tender Ladies is a wonderful novel by Lee Smith. Ivy comes to life with her letters that makes the book more personal, as they bring the reader into her life. I found the book to be a pleasant read.

I have used Flickr and Photobucket in the past. Both websites are excellent sources to share photos with family, friends, and coworkers. However in my own experience, I have found www.kodakgallery.com to be my choice of the three. The kodak gallery seems to be the choice also for alot of family, friends, and even patrons that come into the library.

I found Dubois Heyward to be a remarkable writer. The way he was able to capture the way of life in those days was facinating. I, personally, love Charleston and go several times a year but to see it thru the eyes of Dubois Heyward writings thru Porgy is a entire different story. I had never read a book with Gullah and I have to admit I found it to be a difficult read. Facinating but difficult. This is not a book that I would have picked to read personally, but it was a adventure.

I can not believe that I have finished all 20 objectives of my staff learning experience. I really enjoyed this project and I hope that there will be more in the future. I learned about a lot of websites, that I enjoyed, that I never would have known existed. I have also shared some of these websites with family, friends, and even patrons of the library. I hope everyone had as much fun with this project as I did. Once again, Thank You for the staff learning experience!

Library Websites

I went to several websites of other librarys. I went to the laurens county library website at www.lcpl.org and noticed that they had a reader's advisory blog where you could get reading suggestions. They also had links to the SC State library, Greenville library, and Spartanbury library on their homepage. I then went to the greenville library website at www.greenvillelibrary.org. Their homepage seemed to be cluttered. I then went to the Spartanburg library website at www.infodepot.org where I found that you can download audio books from their website. I do like our website the most because we offer so much information and everything is well catagorized. The only thing that I would add to our website is being able to download audio books like the Spartanburg website. #20

I really liked these websites and I will definatley be visiting them again. In movies, under comedys, I found Made For Each Other starring Carol Lombard & James Stewart, under westerns, I found Sheriff of Tombstone starring Roy Rogers, Gabby Hayes & Trigger, which I could not believe. Then under cartoons I found betty boop, jack frost, and little red hen. I shared these websites with my children, family, and friends. #18 and #19

Yahoo

I have had my yahoo page for years. I have my own layout with my local news and weather. I also have sports, entertainment, business, health, and personal finance. I also have a yahoo email account that shows on my yahoo page when I have new mail. I use this as my home page on my home computer. #17

Wikipedia

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia where you can go to find information of any topic. However, I think what makes this encyclopedia site so unusual is that you can go into pages and edit. The children seem to love this website. I did do some editing and played around in the sandbox. I, myself, am not sure I would depend a on encyclopedia website that can be edited. #16

Podscope is suspose to be a website where you can search spoken word of audio and video that interests you. I had fun with the website, but I believe I still prefer youtube. #15

Bookmarklets

Bookmarklets are tools that extend the surf and search capabilities of netscape and explorer web browsers. They allow you to modify the way you see someone elses webpage and allow you to do searches more quickly. One of the special tools that I found was the Auto Scroll, where you could scroll pages automatically. #13

Library Thing

LibraryThing was a wonderful website. I enjoyed creating my own library and seeing what other people had commented on, that read the same books. I also enjoyed the library suggestions of other books. I would recommend this site to anyone who loves to read. #10

Firefox

I downloaded firefox on my home computer several months ago after several suggestions from friends. I thought it was ok but I do prefer my internet explorer. After doing some research on firefox when i downloaded it, I did find out that it is more poplar that internet explorer, which could be because internet explorer has had so many attacks due to hackers. However the debate seems to be that its just because the hackers have not found a way to attack firefox. Internet explorer is more popular than netscape which i do not like. #12

Library Elf

Library Elf seems like it would be a really nice site for people who visit alot of librarys and have more than one library card. I find the feature that sends you a email before books are due to be helpful on cutting down on late fines. I did notice that our library is not listed on the site, however I did find a place where it can be added. #9

Flickr

I really enjoyed flickr.com. I was able to look at pictures from here in Ware Shoals, Niagra Falls, and even Twitty City in Tennessee. In the past, I have used my Yahoo photos to display and arrange my pictures and photo albums but this is a site that I will be using in the future. It does seem like a very nice way to be able to share photos with friends and family. #8

Facebook and MySpace

Facebook.com seems like a nice networking for the young adult and business professional where myspace.com caters more to teenageers. Facebook caters to lots of separate networks where as myspace.com is just one site. On myspace you must put on setting to private to avoid overall computer net accessiblity where on facebook allows more detailed networking within your area of interest. #7 and #11

MP3 Downloads
Santa Claus brought both of my daughters MP4 players for Christmas. The difference between the MP3 players and the MP4 players is that the MP4 players can play videos and movies like the IPODS. Downloading the music into the computer is really a simply process. Over the years I have tried different music sites but for now i seemed to be more favorable toward limewire. The only problem I seemed to have is getting the music and videos to transfer to the MP4 players. After spending hours and hours trying to figure this new technology out, it took my husband John about 2 minutes. All you have to do is right click and hit send to device. Now how hard could that be. #5 and #6
